Reece James handed suspension after accepting FA charge

Chelsea right-back Reece James has been handed a one-game suspension after accepting an FA charge over using abusive language towards an official. James, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the opening weekend of the season, confronted the referee in the tunnel after last month's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, after which he was accused of using "improper, abusive and insulting" language. Having accepted the charge , James has been handed a £90,000 fine and a one- Game suspension , which leaves him ineligible for Saturday's meeting with Burnley. Fortunately for Chelsea, James was set to miss the Burnley game anyway as he continues his recovery from injury, and he is not expected to return until after the October international break. While an obviously talented midfielder, Frank Lampard became one of his generation's best players thanks in no small part to an unwavering fitness level which he painstakingly honed over the years. Chelsea's record goalscorer got the call that he would be making his professional debut for West Ham while he was performing sprint exercises at the local park. Presumably, his father - Frank Lampard Snr., who was on the coaching staff and made the call - had grown weary of his son endlessly sprinting the length of his back garden in running spikes. Possessed by this maniacal work ethic, it's unsurprising that Lampard Jr. has not been impressed by the fitness of the Chelsea squad he recently inherited. Yet, with the second leg of a Champions League quarter- final fast approaching on Tuesday night, there is no time for the physical work which the team supposedly needs. Grizzlies' Ja Morant returns from suspension, scores 17 off bench in win over Rockets

After serving an eight Game suspension for conduct detrimental to the league, Memphis Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant return ed to Game action against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.  Morant came off the bench for the first time in his career, and he received a loud ovation from his home crowd when he checked in for the first time late in the first quarter. Sporting a black mask to protect a nasal injury, Morant played a total of 24 minutes and he tallied 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in Memphis' 130-125 victory. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the way for the Memphis with 37 points and 10 rebounds and Desmond Bane added 20 points and seven assists for the Grizzlies, who improved to 45-27 and now lead third-place Sacramento by two games with 10 remaining in the season.
