Mohamed Salah returns to Liverpool training ahead of Brentford clash

Mohamed Salah was spotted back in Liverpool training on Tuesday as the Egyptian forward nears a return from a hamstring injury. Salah suffered the injury early on in the Africa Cup of Nations and was embroiled in controversy when he returned to Liverpool for treatment - Salah had to publicly reject claims he had abandoned his nation. The plan was for Salah to return to AFCON later in the competition but Egypt's surprise elimination meant the 31-year-old could focus solely on getting back to full fitness. Having missed his side's last four Premier League Game s, Salah was back in training on Tuesday to join the preparations for this Saturday's trip to Brentford. Man Utd exploring options to build new 'world leading' training ground - report

Image
Manchester United next big project away from the pitch could be the build ing of a brand new training ground , having outgrown their current base at Carrington. United moved to Carrington, built on former farmland near the M60 ring road in 2002 after legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson had grown concerned by a lack of privacy at The Cliff, the club's previous primary training base since the 1930s and still used for some youth operations. The likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have developed better elite training facilities in more recent years. But it's not as straightforward as just adding to or redeveloping the Carrington site in order to become a world leader once more. It is thought that United occupy around 85 acres at Carrington, with a report from the Daily Mail noting that 100 acres of build able land is seen as the minimum to meet demands now. The current site is considered to be at capacity without sufficient space for parking as it is. Rebuilding...

England international Luke Shaw has return ed to Manchester United training in a major boost for manager Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils have been hamstrung by injuries at left-back during the 2023/24 season so far, with Shaw and back-up option Tyrell Malacia both serving periods of enforced absence in the opening months of the campaign. The duo's combined truancy has left Ten Hag scrambling for alternatives, with the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof filling in on the left of defence. However, Shaw's return to first-team training from what was only disclosed as a muscle injury has been captured by club photographers ahead of United's clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. Arsenal defender Pablo Mari trained with his teammates at loan club Monza on Wednesday for the first time since he was the victim of a stabbing attack at a nearby shopping centre. Mari, who joined Monza in the summer after failing to establish himself at Arsenal and spending the second half of last season on loan at Udinese, was caught up in the attack in neighbouring Milan in October. He was among six victims, one of whom sadly passed away. The 29-year-old underwent successful surgery to repair muscles in his back damaged by the knife. Posting on Twitter this week, the Spaniard said, “Back with the team. Step by step. Work hard.” Di nuovo con la squadra 😁 Step by step 💪 #WorkHard@ACMonza #ACMonza #Monza #Training pic.twitter.com/qzusEsWwvA — Pablo Mari Villar (@PabloMV5) December 14, 2022 Initial estimates were that Mari would need two months to recuperate before return ing to training .
