Tyler Adams out for extended spell with hamstring injury

USMNT captain and Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams will spend an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing a hamstring operation.

The player missed the last Premier League match against Wolves, before being dropped from the United States men’s national team 24-player roster for the CONCACAF Nations League.

"It's unfortunate about Tyler," said USMNT interim manager Anthony Hudson at the time of the roster announcement.

"He is such an important player to us, our captain, and he did an incredible job at the World Cup and improving every time we see him in the Premier League. So, it was disappointing news that we can't have him.”

Originally, Adams was expected to return after the international break, but the hamstring surgery forces a completely different recovery timeline. Though the operation was described as 'noninvasive', his return during the 2023 season remains questionable.

There has been no official comment from Leeds on the player's condition.

Adams has been a key player for the Premier League side since joining from RB Leipzig last summer, making 24 appearances overall. The club currently sits 14th, two points above the relegation zone with 11 Games remaining.
